We protect our lands from illegal trespass and abuse through the Land Use Permit System. Due to the high level of public interest generated by the island’s natural attractions and over harvest of Northern Kodiak Island wildlife. AKI’s land patrol officers are focused on protecting our lands, and are responsible for enforcing the land use policies while working in cooperation with government authorities.

All members of the general public who plan to request access to AKI’s lands (as depicted on the lands map), must acquire a land use permit.
